Safety Specialist – North Texas Municipal Water District (Wylie, TX)

The North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) is seeking a Safety Specialist to support safety programs, training, and compliance across its operations. This role focuses on minimizing occupational injuries, vehicle collisions, and ensuring compliance with OSHA, TCEQ, NFPA, ANSI, and other safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and deliver safety training and briefings.
  • Lead hazard assessments, inspections, and corrective actions.
  • Oversee PPE needs and assist with procurement and proper use.
  • Investigate incidents, determine root causes, and manage OSHA reporting.
  • Support development of safety SOPs and emergency response programs.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in safety, accident prevention, or loss control (preferred).
  • Bachelor’s in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience/certifications).
  • CSP, CIH, or related nationally accredited certification highly desirable.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License required; Class A CDL preferred.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary range: $74,070 – $109,623.

Work Environment:
This role involves both indoor and outdoor work in water/wastewater environments, with exposure to chemicals, machinery, confined spaces, and varied weather conditions. PPE and respiratory protection training required.
